“I AM THE LORD…FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS…DAY BY DAY, THE KING GAVE” For the past month, the Almighty has gathered together a heavenly collage of Bible lessons. Perfectly scheduled and executed for the benefit of all mankind, they are out-of-this-world lessons that only He could have appointed.

God began on the very first day of His 12th month with the announcement “…Then they will know that I am the Lord.” Since that anniversary date was February 3 on our 2022 calendar, it is impossible not to recognize the timing of the Almighty in delivering this powerful, ancient lesson to our contemporary world.

Delivered by the Watchman Ezekiel around 586BC, God pronounced this funeral dirge on the once mighty nation of Egypt. It’s chilling to comprehend that God Almighty knows that allowing a warring enemy to destroy and conquer is sometimes the only way to get folks attention and teach invaluable lessons. "When I make Egypt desolate and strip the land of everything in it, when I strike down all who live there, then they will know that I am the Lord." Ezekiel 32:15

The continuing funeral prophecy on the "hordes" of Egypt, Ezekiel 32:17-31, was later pronounced on the 15th day of God’s 12th month, February 17 on our 2022 calendar. Hopefully the ancient Assyrians, Sidonians, and all the other “hordes”, of the once mighty Egyptians, teach us invaluable lessons. The haughty nation who thinks they are a "powerful young lion walking proud among the nations", can very quickly be reduced to just a mere shadow of what it used to be. Opting to align with our "good buddies" may give us more time on this earth, but in the end, we'll all be in the grave together. February 15 on our 2022 calendar was the 13th day of the 12th month of Adar, the same ancient date chosen for the annihilation of the remnant nation of Judah who lived in Persia. God chose to deliver them through the union of a young girl from Judah and a Middle Eastern ruler. The Almighty intervened in the affairs of mankind, bringing His chosen servant, Esther, to the place where she would exalt Him by trusting Him with her life. As a result, the remnant of Israel defeated their enemies who had been set on annihilating them. Esther became Queen of Persia, the largest empire on the earth during her lifetime.

Not only does this lesson setting sound eerily all-too-familiar in 2022, we can see many faces of our Messiah in this accounting of a nation's deliverance from their enemy. Jesus is our Intercessor, our Esther. He is our Encourager, our Mordecai. He is our Merciful King, our Xerxes. We should also see ourselves in Haman: the prideful, haughty, manipulative schemer with his own agenda to fulfill. Because the truth is that we all desperately need to be saved from ourselves and our destructive tendencies. The deliverance of God's people in the manner He chooses, continues to leave us mesmerized and dumbfounded. His plan not only includes overcoming obstacles among those claiming to align themselves with His own heart but also moving in the hearts of those who have yet to believe in Him.

The lunar/solar calendar God gave the nation of Israel was based on observation of the heavens with the naked eye. Today it has evolved into the current appointed Hebrew calendar, using scientific information to appoint the beginning of months and years in advance of actual observation. And since the Hebrew calendar is a collection of months stretching from new moon to new moon, the number of days in a year is around 354, instead of 365. So every 2 or 3 years a 13th month is added to keep the calendar in sync with the rotation of the earth and the seasons. This year is one of those years. The 13th added month began on the evening of March 3 on our 2022 calendar.

Though this may be confusing to some of us Christians, following the Word of God always yields a bonus. This year, we get to repeat the joy of the 12th month lesson appointments again in the 13th bonus month! Talk about a blessing!

Which segues perfectly into our final lesson appointed on God’s 12th/ 13th month calendar. Just when we feel like everything is set in stone, leaving us hemmed in on every side, the King can still part the skies, set us free, treating us like royalty for the rest of our days…and then some. Yes, when we least expect it, the King of the Universe can turn our lives around. And it will have absolutely nothing to do with our timing or ability to plan it out and redeem ourselves. It will have everything to do with the choice of King Jesus, and the love and mercy He extends to us. It all leads us to the Cross. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.
